Bruce Juhola, a FOCUS Senior Advisor, is a business coach with a passion for creating successful business and leadership transformations exclusively with owners of small to middle-sized companies. He has over 45 years of management experience in technology companies, significant international experience and M&A expertise. Over the years, he has demonstrated the ability to raise money for start-ups and mid-market companies from major financial entities such as venture capital firms, private equity groups and investment banks.
Armed with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an MBA, Mr. Juhola started his career in technical positions at National Starch & Chemical, an adhesives and coatings company, followed by a technical sales management position at Calgon Carbon, a manufacturer of activated carbon. He then joined Raychem Corporation, a high technology materials science company located in Menlo Park, California. Over a 20 year period, he held various Sales and Marketing positions, both domestic and International. He held the position of Vice President of Raychem International with responsibility for Asia, Australia and New Zealand, headquartered in Singapore. During this period he grew or established companies in each country with outstanding growth in the region.
He left to found Microbar, a semiconductor equipment manufacturer. Microbar developed the first totally automated chemical management systems for the photolithography process and went on to develop unique chemical management solutions for other semiconductor manufacturing processes: copper electroplating and CMP (Chemical Mechanical Planarization). Sales of these chemical management systems grew to an annual rate of $25 million.
After selling the company in 2003, he helped found the Bend Venture Conference in his new hometown, Bend, Oregon. He also founded the first CEO membership group for TEC (now rebranded as Vistage) for companies located in Central Oregon. Vistage International, the world’s leading chief executive organization, and its affiliates, have more than 14,500 members in 16 countries. Vistage is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and enhancing the lives of chief executives. Member companies are better run and grow their revenues, on average, at twice the percentage growth rate after joining Vistage.
Presently, Mr. Juhola facilitates two Vistage groups in Bend and, as a consultant, has a strategic planning practice. He also founded Deep Photonics Corporation, a specialized high performance laser company focused on the semiconductor, photovoltaic (solar), LED and micromachining industries and currently serves as Chairman and CEO of that company.
